Myethos strikes again – Best figure of 2021? Feat. Hatsune Miku
Hello readers and fellow figure collectors, hope you are all doing well. I have some incredibly exciting news to share today. The painted prototype of the figure which many collectors including myself have been eagerly waiting for has finally been completed.
She is none other than the lovely Vocaloid Hatsune Miku from the figure company Myethos. Myethos is one of my favourite figure companies and one that I whole heartedly recommend as they make really high quality figures as mentioned in my figure collecting guide here. I am happy for Myethos as this figure will certainly boost their recognition in the Figure Collecting Community although more people are already becoming aware of them. Miku is scheduled for release on June 2021. This article is my review on the figure based on the prototype pictures that were posted by the company yesterday.
Despite being a Chinese Figure Company that has to compete against the big name Japanese players such as Good Smile Company, Myethos has once again knocked this figure out of the park. Phenomenal, breath-taking and dazzling are some of the most apt descriptions of this figure. Let’s take a closer look at the detailing of Miku in some close up shots below.
That face. OH MY GOD!! That is perfection, literally. Myethos figures have some of the best details but this face sculpt and detailing on Miku are on another level, simply out of this world. Just the face alone is a 10/10. The whole face was sculpted immaculately, from the nose, mouth to the ears even. But what stood out to me the most were the eyes. Myethos nailed the eyes down flawlessly, just look at the intricate details such as the eyelashes and slight gloss paint finish on the upper portion of her eyes that is cleverly balanced out by the lower portion. This face sculpt of Miku easily blows the face sculpt of most figures from Japanese Figure Companies away. I am sure many collectors are thinking of displaying her without her fan accessory just because of how beautiful the face is.
Moving on, the hair sculpt was also well executed and the individual strands were meticulously sculpted as shown in the picture above. I feel that Myethos also chose one of the best possible color gradients for Miku’s hair as it stands out but is not too overpowering and melds well with the darker brown coloured base. Her hair also extends onto the base, just look at that flow, simply amazing. The eyebrows are also an important detail not to overlook as they blend with the face really well. There is also excellent detailing on the upper portion of her dress which are the intricate patterns that are only visible upon closer inspection.
Now let us take a closer look at her accessories. Right off the bat, we see that Miku comes with a hair accessory in the form of a pink flower. The pink flower hair accessory is quite small but easily noticeable because of the color contrast to Miku’s hair.
Miku also comes with a brooch attached to her dress. There is some detailing on her brooch but I would not say it is the most detailed as I have seen other figures with even more detailing on the accessories. However, I must say that Myethos chose a good-fitting color for the brooch as it does not take away all the attention from the figure. The fan accessory is a nice touch and the details of the swallows and branches are also magnificent as they add a lot of detail and depth to the figure. The ribbon end of the fan is also not to be overlooked.
Miku also has a flower bracelet that has some detailing on it but is hard to see unless up-close.

Miku’s heels and laced ankle socks/stockings have also been sculpted perfectly. The detailing on them is superb and the color scheme is great once again.
Miku is undoubtedly beautiful but a large
part of what makes this figure stand out so much is definitely the base. You
seldom see such an elaborate base coming with most figures. Many figure
companies these days use generic round and flat bases that often come in one
color. Some collectors prefer generic bases as they take away less attention
from the figure itself. I feel that a unique and well-designed base add so much
more overall depth to the whole figure. Miku’s outfit and the base give the
whole figure a very oriental aura. Take a look at how well the flowers on her
base were sculpted above.
Miku, her accessories and the base all combine together to form an incredible unit and an amazing figure. The color combination of the respective parts of the figure all complement each other very well, creating one of the most eye-catching figures. It is still too early to say but in my opinion, this will be the best figure of 2021, at least for now. Overall, I rate this figure 11/10. She is just that good to be honest, a true masterpiece.
Although I am not a Miku Fan as I
personally do not know much about her and have not listened to her songs, this
figure is definitely a guaranteed pre-order for me. She is too gorgeous to skip
out on and I am really excited to have her as my first Miku scale figure. Pre-orders
will start on August 31st and end on October 31st
according to Myethos’ Weibo. You can order this figure on Taobao like most Myethos
figures but AmiAmi should have her up for sale on their site as well like with
most Myethos figures. Going with AmiAmi is a safer bet as they do replacements
or refunds if the figure arrives damaged while Taobao most likely wouldn’t.
I highly recommend pre-ordering this Miku figure if you like her because I can guarantee that she will be sold out within a short period or immediately upon release. She is one of the most talked about figures on MyFigureCollection and the demand for her is very high. Do note that Myethos has never done re-runs for their figures. If you miss out on this pre-order, chances are you will have to buy her from another seller but at an astronomical after-market price. Miku will make a lovely centrepiece to your collection for sure.
