Figure Unboxing and Review: Hanairogoromo Megurine Luka Exclusive (Stronger)

Friday, April 13, 2018 / No Comments
Another addition to the line of Hanairogoromo figures, this time, Megurine Luka! She was released in December but it took me quite some time before I actually managed to get this review out. In May this year, Kagamine Rin and Len's Hanairogoromo figures would be released (if there's no delay) and this would complete the entire line!

But before we get too excited over this, let's appraise this beauty!

Packaging
As with the other figures of this series, she comes in a very pretty box, decorated with flowers of many colors. The different sides of the box also shows all the different views of the figure as well and it really helps if you can't decide on which angle to display her at.

Her blister is very compact and well held together. She comes with the main figure, a round base as well as a large sakura tree branch which she is seated on.
Base
There are essentially two parts to her base, the round one and the branch but since the round base is the same as the other Hanairogoromo figures, I'll skip that this time and focus on the tree instead,

Here you see that the tree has a lot of deep grooves which are painted in a darker brown to create the depth. There is also a flat area which Luka is supposed to be seated on. This area is magnetic, which helps as it means Luka will not fall off easily when you move her around. However the strength of the magnet might weaken over time so do always exercise caution.
The sakura petals do come with a gradient, going from a darker pink to a lighter, more translucent pink at the ends. This is a similar technique that's seen with Meiko's Hanairogoromo figure as well. That same gradient is used on the tree branch, going from a darker brown at the base to a lighter brown at the tips.

The Figure
The hanairogoromo which Luka has on is vibrant in colors and the cool blue tones to her outfit really bring out the pinkness of her hair that sweeps across both the front and back of her kimono. The differences in shades of her hair, hairband and sakura petals really adds a form of dimension of the figure as well!

The hair ornament uses blues and greens to set it apart from the rest of the hair as well as to tie it in with the colors used on her outfit. The sculpting here is quite intricate but I do feel that the finish on it doesn't make the ornament piece look realistic and elegant, but instead it simply looks like an additional sculpted plastic piece. The paintwork could have been better.
The next couple of photos show her outfit from different views. I don't really have much to say since I think the pictures speak for themselves. The pattern are intricate and the pastel colors really help to keep the feel of the figure soft and gentle. One thing to note though  is that her sleeves do not go all the way in (dark blue part on her raised arm) and for an exclusive figure at her price, I felt like Stronger should have taken the extra effort.

All in all, I do enjoy this figure and I'll say she is one of the better ones in the Hanairogoromo so far (Rin and Len are not released yet)!

Sakura Matsuri: Garden By the Bay

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 / No Comments
The space of seconds when my feet transverse over the threshold into the Flower Dome premier, my warmth skin became cooler instantly due to the air-conditioner's chilly draft. In dispersion through the batch of both locals and tourists, I marched along with a purpose lickety-split full usage of my short legs. Immediately upon a full view of aesthetically cherry blossom trees accompanied by Japanese landscape stretched out before me on the lower section. The resplendent brilliance of vivid hues, intense babble from ecstatic masses as  sunlight streamed from beyond the dome's glass.

My heart leapt in elation, the ambience gave away a serene sensibility, my anticipatory gaze took pleasure. Without further ado, I pressed on en route to the floral heaven at the same time skidded drunkenly. Literally under my nose, I scooped out my hand-phone to capture the blissful moment with a disparate of snapshots. Enamoured by infinitude of crimson, flush, chartreuse and snuff-coloured. A self proclaimed nature lover; Garden By the Bay exhibited the famous season: hanami viewing.

Gratified, the gaggle of general public never overpowered my ambivert senses, even though all of us had to erratically fluctuate to journey to another station. Patience became a virtue as we cool one's heel for a perfect bearing to clicked away numerous pictures.

The theme and display for this year's cherry blossom festival was exceptionally a heart-stopping experience. Mannequins attired in grandeur kimono in contrast with the variegated environment arranged in perfect poses at different locations. The impression I reacted to or perhaps, a number of us as if we had transported into a portal whereas the puppets remain alive just for us to peeked into their world. My inner Art Wolfe promptly vivified animatedly for "professional" photography session.

Multitude of folks don in vibrant yukata as everyone strutted out and about accompanied by friends, families or individually. It rang a bell about a booth service assigned for yukata rental. Post-haste I wandered off toward the said location after a kind employee instructed me; lo and behold, countless stands available for inspection throughout the time traditional  Japanese folk song render in the backdrop. My peepers agleam in unhidden enthusiasm at the abundance of yukata attainable.

A yukata in maroon-tone incorporated with huge cherry blossoms comparable to my make-up that garnered my focal point and fell head over heels in love. The friendly ladies primp me up as I stood straight with arms poked outward on either side and my dream to don a yukata once and for all came true. After a while, I was all fitted and set for a leisurely breeze within the dome in my pretty attire with some touch up on my makeup. Before I exited from the hall another stall in the centre came into my field of vision.

Katanas mounted on the side wall as well as perched neatly on the table top, customized leather bags, kimono, demon masks and many more items. Unbridled curiosity, I dawdle over to survey the wooden swords when the person-in-charge advances with a generous smile to bestow information. To my amazement; a Singaporean designed the items that was on showcase; a hobbyist and passionate for Japan's subculture. From J rock music, heavy craftsmanship to bold fashion, the dedicated team explore for more kindred whom share the same interest. Applicable classes to produce wooden swords that was up to my alley: Link.

A selection of stands provided Japanese meals, accompanied by a growling belly I flitted from one stall to another until someone called out "cheesecake" to me. The swift change of course, I saw myself at a mini dessert stall coupled with a gleeful expression. After my set purchase; a cup of aromatic coffee alongside Hokkaido Cheesecake and trudged upstairs to a lounge. Long tables similar to a Japanese ramen restaurant as occupants sat on the floor. Sooner or later, with time of the essence I managed to venture off toward the actual party.

Appreciatively, guests came forth to lent a hand when requested for personal pictures a troublesome peeved if you journey companionless. Nervous as a headless creature, my poorly executed yet awkward poses behind the camera lens in full glory. However, the entire day was consumed under the picturesque blossoms.

Nevertheless, the casts for the main event aside from mesmerizing flowers were the figurines. People flocked for pictures taken with the dolls at the background or some stood there endlessly for photo-shoot. To be honest, at first glimpse my wariness against puppets reacted internally. Once calm and collected, I basked under the glorious kaleidoscope hand in hand with the serene ambience.

The current writer nestled in my head conjured up oodles of potential plotlines that of which involved the erected figurines.

In spite of the persistent feet ache as mild exhaustion consumed my system, the initial drive to explore overtook my conscious. Recurrently, petals flutter downward whimsically as time for second stood still to admire the scenic surroundings.

In the course of expedition, a gaggle of photographers clamoured for the ivory puppet's attention. Her alluring beauty drove everyone to a feverish mode. Even I became spellbound enough to joined in the fracas and waved my hand-phone in hopes to beat the rest for better view.

Postmeridian, the realization literally whopped me in the face when dejection followed next, the time to traverse home loomed ahead even though my bleeding heart wept in rejection. Despondently, I back tracked to the hall and allowed the sweet lady to stripped away the yukata with my clothes still attached underneath; there was no unrestricted free show to hapless strangers. Once again, the former me returned behind the mirror's reflection and caught the gloom in my eyes. Alas, I sauntered out of the flower dome with a new emotion; solace. In a time to come, my greedy hands yearned to stretched above the blush-tinted sky under a huge cherry blossom tree throughout the time petals would float downward to paint the fir a roseate tone around my lazed body.

Persona 5 the Animation: Prologue

Saturday, April 7, 2018 / No Comments
Persona 5 the Animation will finally air tomorrow, after months of excitement. As a special treat, we can now watch 6 minutes of the anime (video below!). The internet is raving over it already, and anticipation is at an all-time high!

Amamiya Ren has moved in Tokyo and is under probation, watched over by Sojiro Sakura. After a particular incident, he stumbles upon another dimension and his Persona awakens. As per the in-game story, he forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts with his friends, to reform the hearts of corrupt adults by stealing the source of their distorted desires. Meanwhile, bizarre crimes have been happening in Tokyo...

While I was more familiar with in-game and manga name Kurusu Akira, the name Amamiya Ren was actually announced during a live stream last year. It follows the pattern of previous Persona protagonists having multiple names, such as Narukami Yu/Seta Souji from P4, and Arisato Minato/Yuki Makoto from P3. That being said, the other characters retain the same names as their game counterparts! In fact, Ann and Ryuji will appear in the very first episode, as screencaps on the official site shows, just like how they show up in-game quickly.

I can't wait for the Phantom Thieves to assemble, because what a star-studded cast of seiyuus! Just look:

  • Ren Amamiya: Jun Fukuyama
  • Ryuji Sakamoto: Mamoru Miyano
  • Ann Takamaki: Nana Mizuki
  • Morgana: Ikue Otani
  • Yusuke Kitagawa: Tomokazu Sugita
  • Makoto Niijima: Rina Satoh
  • Futaba Sakura: Aoi Yuki
  • Haru Okumura: Haruka Tomatsu
  • Goro Akechi: Soichiro Hoshi

Meanwhile, as we wait, it's time for some Akira/Ren appreciation! Please feast your eyes on the glory of the best Persona protagonist (to me) yet.

Spring Anime 2018

Wednesday, April 4, 2018 / No Comments
Hello my nuggets!!!

Spring is finally upon us, and with that comes a whole new season of anime. I took a quick look through and I! AM! SO! EXCITED!! The upcoming list only what I'm planning on watching, and is in no way an expansive list.

First up, the popular ones.

Boku no Hero Academia is up for a third season, thank you; I need more Lord Explosion Murder in my life. I stopped halfway through the second season because I honestly couldn't quite stand Deku, but hopefully season three will motivate me to pick it back up.

Shokugeki no Soma is also up this season, and I'm vibrating with excitement. Animated food is always best food.

I also spotted one: Dorei-ku. The summary looks mad promising, but then again summaries can be deceiving. It's in the psychological + drama genre, and might have some adult themes? Proceed with caution.

Yowamushi Pedal is still ongoing so that's cool, I kind of stopped for a bit after the 3rd years left because my heart left along with Makishima.. Well, hopefully I'll manage to summon the energy to continue without the senpais.

Hoozuki no Reitetsu season two part two is here!!! This is some real comedy that you should not miss. SHOULD NOT. If you've started from season one, well hello there my friend. If you have not started this at all, I feel bad for you because you are missing out on a lot life has to offer. Go watch this!!

Next up, Nanatsu no Taizai is still running for another 12 episodes, hooray!! This is one of my favorites because of each character has their own distinct personality, not to mention it's full of plot twists and forever love. Like literally forever love. Man, when I got to the part about Meliodas and Elizabeth I almost cried. Almost. Also, Merlin is a huge badass and I just really really want to marry her, like honestly who wouldn't?

I can't even pick a favorite character because I really like them all. I mean, Elizabeth is ranked the lowest, but at least she's still ranked. Also, this might be a little spoiler but I have to let it out of my system. Arthur, I trusted you!! But you went and got yourself utterly destroyed in like a few panels!! What!!!

Now for the ONAs/ OVAs~ This one is in Chinese but guys, this is the best shit I've watched in forever. The King's Avatar (Quan Zhi Gao Shou) is amazing. I cleared all the episodes in one sitting because I couldn't tear myself away from the screen.
Widely regarded as a trailblazer and top-tier professional player in the online multiplayer game Glory, Ye Xiu is dubbed the "Battle God" for his skills and contributions to the game over the years. However, when forced to retire from the team and to leave his gaming career behind, he finds work at a nearby internet café. There, when Glory launches its tenth server, he throws himself into the game once more using a new character named "Lord Grim."

Ye Xiu's early achievements on the new server immediately catch the attention of many players, as well as the big guilds, leaving them to wonder about the identity of this exceptional player. However, while he possesses ten years of experience and in-depth knowledge, starting afresh with neither sponsors nor a team in a game that has changed over the years presents numerous challenges. Along with talented new comrades, Ye Xiu once again dedicates himself to traversing the path to Glory's summit!

There are some reviews that the characters fall flat, the story has a lot of holes, the art isn't that nice but I personally love it. I mean, the protag is a pro gamer, and the best of the best, apparently. Even if he starts off with an entirely new character, the game mechanics are the same and he'll be super OP regardless because it's a mix of skill and equipment stats? Either way I love this to death and I'm so stoked that there's at least an ONA because I was expecting to have to wait til 2019 at least to hear some news about this.

That being said, please come out with a new season soon!!

Speaking about new seasons, Daiya no Ace also needs to get another season because I am in some desperate need for Miyuki. I think Houseki no Kuni is going to get a season two soon, yes, yes, and yes!

For OVAs we have one on Shingeki no Kyojin, a Shokugeki one on Erina, and a Vatican Kiseki one! I'm more interested in the Vatican Kiseki Chousakan than the other two, to be honest. We also have a Servamp Movie, and a Godzilla Movie soon! I've watched the first Godzilla one, and I wasn't too impressed by it. It felt linear and a little too draggy, so hopefully the sequel will be much better.

Let me know what are some of your favorites and recommend me some if you'd like! More anime is better than no anime. That's all from me for now, nerd out!

Simple Guide To Become a Fanfiction Writer

Saturday, March 31, 2018 / No Comments
To our ceaseless unbelievingness the show's credits reel upward from beyond our device's screen; just our luck, we are the viewers for a characters good ending to everyone's delight or preparing yourself to put a lock in the bathroom in which we suffer a dose of ugly sobbing marathon (Hakuouki death scene triggers in my head). Staggering plot twists disruptive to our internal riotous emotions in which we act upon by vandalising all the home furniture until our raging mothers literally flung us out the windows.

But not all heroes wear cape, there are promising people who are often averse to social call yet earnest to bestow lengthy and dramatic paragraphs; these inhabitants thread in the midst of us. They observe the surroundings on mainstream lives and dutifully jot onto a notebook at a strike of inspirations. Overlook Arnold Schwarzenegger who strenuously combat with Predators just so the world acquire peaceful wink or the cause for Jake Gylenhaal's heroism in fear nobody evolve into human popsicles (classic movies). We celebrate on behalf of all fanfiction writers! majority within the community showcase their dedication in the art of writing and capable to dish out amazing stories.

They are the type of heroes we are severely dependent on; fanfiction has zero boundaries that of which writers tend to explore every crook or cranny. The genres are abundant to choose from. Have you come across a storyline whereas Natsu Dragneel kick the bucket? Itachi suddenly revives from an old Jutsu? maybe a romantic comedy plot about your favourite secondary characters. If these ideas tickle your fancy bone the correct solution stares back at you, stow away the hapless flight of fancy to barter your kidney on EBay in desperate attempt resurrect your fallen characters also, that is against the law. The ever-growing numbers in the universe of fanfiction resembles black ants set out to create and dominate their sanctuary.

If you are a beginner whom yearns to make a credulous spot, allow me to be your personal guide; the basic tips on how to be a good fanfiction writer: drink up energy boosting liquids for unflinching concentration, make a bonfire out of your regular attires and start by donning in shady clothes, put on bogus glasses (sadly, I don't have to fake in my situation) to appear wise in another's point of view. Make sure to be on edge for a flair of dramatic display. Are you feeling nervous? shrug off the seed of doubt because this is only the starters line. I have immense faith in you to evolve into a spellbinding author!

Select a show that has your rapt attention, let loose your imagination and memorize; there are no rules in writing unless it is a controversial topic (stop getting me into unnecessary trouble) and create your Original Character (OC). Fanfiction opens up to a portal in another dimension, logical mind-set have no place. Unless you want to travel the road to be a cruel author for the sake of taunting your readers with flood work of tears.

All of a sudden, your mechanical brain conjures up heart pumping ideas alas you're stuck during a bathroom break? make a habit to carry a pen because you might be in dire footing to scribble these spectacular plans onto tissue papers. The greatest storyline achievement arise in unsuspecting venue. Be a wild child, set aside uneasiness if the availability for toilet papers endure it's last passage because writers are daredevil creatures, you may enquire extra rolls from the next stall or await somebody to return home until then, come to terms and embrace your geeky power.

When a musical play transgress, we notice the pianist nimble fingers flutter over the instrumental keys to convey lulling music. The uncanny resemblance to fellow authors when their fingers dart ferociously over alphabetical keypads especially on severe datelines; the alluring tune of stabbing keypads. By now, we are close to hand, a palpable smirk visible on your determine expression.

The climax for heavy curtains to fall arrives closer, keep on your game face on, stretch your hands in a yoga pose and crack your fingers similar to Kaneki Ken before the handsome half ghoul launch for the kill. Create a loose draft either on a notebook or device; temper has a key role. This process will require your undying patience; work with snacks at your fingers to push aside the vexation when headache takes form at the back of your head.

Why edit the heavy stuff when it is only a mere fanfiction? many readers (points a finger at face) look forward to read a book with good grammar, sentence structure and worthy plotline. Do not hand out a bunch of "cryptic words" only the Army can decode them or lure us by a promising summary only to crash and burn in disappointment. If you dare to throw cautions to the wind with my advice, present a birdbrain story and row of spelling errors; I will hunt you down and oversee your draft once again.

You have accomplish the task to publish your first ever swashbuckling fanfiction, prepare to amaze the mass of hungry crowds with your eloquent writing abilities and soul gripping characters alongside their original contents. Anticipate to be receipt of either heart-warming or harsh comments, adapt to read the pleasantries at the same time, be more acceptable to the latter and turn it into constructive criticism.

Pat yourself on the shoulder, this arduous journey to become a well-known writer draw near to an end, sort of. You constantly learn the art for writing throughout each passing days, tapping deep into your internal emotions; the uniqueness of which you flourish in every chapters. There is no full stop in the world of writers and someday, you will stand shoulder to shoulder with many heavyweights in this wonderful community.
