A Letter to Valentine

Monday, February 13, 2017 / No Comments
Dear (Alleged) Valentine,

I don't understand; you stick to me like a bloody tapeworm like how dust settles onto everywhere. Roses aren't red, and violets aren't blue; I wish you could just disappear or go find somebody else for a change. Please don't look at me like that, because I would so barf my intestines out. Argh, what a day! I prefer solitude than having to brave couples declaring their love for each other within an immeasurable radius. You quit trying to change my mind; I don't even like tapeworms!

Speaking of which, I have to take my hat off to the brilliant, unfathomable innovation of the Japanese; apparently, Valentine's Day doesn't have to be the conventional, rabu-rabu occasion anymore. People actually fancy worms and such, or about to! Look at how disgusting these cookies are, but it is indeed rather intriguing. I wonder if the insects are real or simply gummies. Can you imagine their body fluids and bits rolling about in your mouth whereas the cookie simply crumbles?

What are the odds of keeping the relationship with an idea like that? I can't speak for everybody else, but I like to think that the couple probably wouldn't last past the unfolding of the napkins. Unless both harbour the same quiet perversion that longs for some overdue approval. But no thanks, I would rather not bond intimately with something so gut-wrenching. Oh, insects also love cake as much as the average human does.

Gosh, I don't want to know what went into that cocktail, though the onee-san is totally unperturbed. What a way to celebrate Valentine's Day in style! Maybe you should offer yourself to be used as an ingredient for one of those things. According to some findings, worms are rich in protein or something. Yeah, then you will really disappear! Ah, I think that I could use some plain old chocolate now! Happy Singles' Day, if you haven't known already!

Eccentrically Yours.

Queen Bee (Amami Kisa) - Alien Hunter 2

Name : Amami Kisa あまみきさ (Alien Hunter 2)
Height : 173cm
Weight : 55kg
Measurements : 36D-26-32
Birthday : 14 February 1989
Designer
: Max Wong

Amami Kisa is a reconnaissance and bomb specialist. She has one of the best vision in the world. A commander of an army of killer bees, the weapons under her disposal include a pair of Spectrum Glass, Wings, Swarm Bombs and Bee Drones.

Spectrum Glass

The Spectrum Glass which is only unique to Amami Kisa allows her to see far into the colour wavelength to reach ultraviolet's. Thus, she perceives the world differently from us, much like how a bee can target the centre of a flower so accurately. With the Spectrum Glass on, no amount of hiding from the Aliens can shield their whereabouts.

Wings

The large pair of wings carry Amami to far distances in speed in excess of 200 km/hr and upper ceiling limit of 6000m. Amami's thoracic temperature reaches about 125 degrees fahrenheit (51.7 degrees celsius) when she flies. However, in high altitudes, she cannot fly for a long period as the cold temperature and low air density reduces her oxygen intake and causes her wings to work harder.

Swarm Bombs

Clutched on her thighs are 4 Swarm Bombs. Each bomb measures 5cm in diameter and contains a total of 100 killer bees. Upon detonation, the infuriating bees attack the target in a frenzy state of relentless stinging. An average-size alien that is stung by 8-10 bees often experiences disillusion. If it gets inflicted by more than a dozen stings, the injected venom results in death within 30 minutes.

Drone Bee

Up the right sleeve of Amami housed a pair of titanium grade 3.5cm Drone Bees. The drone bees are able to penetrate into small crevices to conduct reconnaissance. They have a maximum range of 2.4km and speed of 80 km/hr. Amami controls the drones via her smartphone and she sees whatever intelligence captured by the drones. No place is safe, even in caves and mountains when the Drone Bees are heading your way.

Our very first anime T-shirt featuring Miwa Haruka

Thursday, February 9, 2017 / No Comments
Dream come true
Since 2015, I had dreamed of designing and printing our very own anime T-shirts. I wanted the design to represent Milkcananime and one that my writers can wear proudly whenever they are invited to attend the local events here. However, making T-shirts does not come cheap since I am not just making one for myself but for the entire team, including my facebook's admin team. I intend to print regularly from now onwards with our own OCs.

2 months of research
I did a thorough research on how and where to source for T-shirts and the often confusing methods of printing; from silk screen printing, heat transfer, sublimation, blah blah blah. I searched online from a myriad of suppliers from countries like China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. There were countless email correspondence between these people. At the end of two months, I settled for a supplier from non other than our own country - Singapore. I won't write a granny's story on why I didn't select from those countries which are cheaper. In summary, I had chosen a supplier here in Singapore based on quality, communication and trust. Although relatively expensive, I believe I was getting a value here and not one with cut-cornered quality.

Quality - Dri fit material, smooth and lightweight.
Communication - Speaks English. Timely response via sms and email.
Trust - Deliver the results as promised. And I received the printed T-shirts 3 days before the deadline.

(As simple as it sounds, many suppliers lack some of these traits)

Here are some pictures of the Miwa Haruka T-shirt. I've made a total of 20 pieces.

Only 4 T-shirts left. After giving away 16 to all my writers, facebook admins and my resident illustrator.

Miwa Haruka is the mascot for Milkcananime

Well, that's my first T-shirt design. I have one for myself. It is very comfortable as it is made of Dri-Fit material. I still feel cool whenever I go out on a hot day. But I needed a jacket if I were to wear it in the cinema.

Figure Unboxing and Review: Nendoroid #410: Gilgamesh (Good Smile Company)

When I started collecting anime figures last year, Gilgamesh's Nendoroid caught my eye for all the wrong reasons. The King of Heroes had a price tag that befit his stature and don't get me started on the availability of the Nendoroid in the first place. Fortunately, Good Smile Company decided to throw us all a bone and re-release the Babylonian king late last month. For collectors who missed out on purchasing his Nendoroid three years ago, here's your chance and to those who decided to succumb to absurd aftermarket prices, I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

Gilgamesh is perhaps the most flashy character among all the Nendoroids from the Fate/Stay Night franchise, thanks to his pure gold get-up and Gate of Babylon Noble Phantasm. And not forgetting the gold jug and cup you saw in Fate/Zero. It's easy to see why he's so coveted among collectors and fans alike. Even his casual outfit in the visual novel's Fate route screams nouveau riche.

Having bought more than ten Nendoroids over the course of the last nine months, I can safely say that I've seen every box design out there. But Gilgamesh still stands out thanks to his armour and Gate of Babylon Noble Phantasm.

One glance at the blister pack and I knew I had to pose Gilgamesh with the Gate of Babylon along with the six weapons that were included. The gold wine jug and goblet and even Ea paled in comparison to the red-hued Gate. However, I lament that Good Smile Company didn't use the bright gold version featured in ufotable's anime adaptations instead.

The weapons included are as shiny as they look and several are easily identifiable; having their own individual entries in the visual novel's Weapon menu. These include Gram, Durandal and Houtengeki. Each weapon can also be held easily, opening up even more poses for the chibi King.

Gilgamesh's default faceplate features his usual smug grin and I too would feel equally cocky if I was decked out in gold from head to toe. I appreciate how well sculpted his hair is, even though his armour steals most of the limelight. Another interesting feature would be the joints on his shoulder pads. The articulation comes in handy when you attach the alternate parts for his arms, allowing you to move them out of the way.

This was one of the easiest Nendoroids I assembled, requiring close to no effort, other than inserting the usual stands and pegs. I even spent more time taking photos of the Nendoroid and the accessories compared to actually assembling and displaying it. The Gate of Babylon accessory could easily be attached to the stand and fortunately, it was sturdier than it looked. The ripple effect in the Gate of Babylon was faithfully recreated but unfortunately, my room's bright lighting makes the piece look more pink than red.

With the Fate/Stay Night franchise boasting so many anime adaptations this year, Gilgamesh's re-release is far from the last Fate-related figurine we'll see. I'm looking forward to what the two Wonder Festivals have in store for us!

Something about Valentine's Day

Wednesday, February 8, 2017 / No Comments
Valentine's Day. February 14th. Some (I don't know who) call it Singles' Day, others (I don't know who) call it Friendship Day. Isn't it just another day anyway? Hey, that rhymes! Chocolates. Sweets. Giri. Honmei. Please go out with me. Please don't go out with me. You are just a friend. A classmate. Somebody. A colleague. Somebody in the family. Everybody. But chocolate is good. It does wonders to your complexion (?). Chocolate makes you feel better. Binge. It is just another excuse. Take it anyway. Thank you.

Oh, you didn't receive any chocolate? It is okay, don't feel so rejected. Chocolate is just...chocolate. Hey, don't cry! Why are you dying to have chocolate anyway? Here, I can share mine, once I have figured out who is most likely to give me some. Kouhai to Senpai. Girlfriend to Boyfriend. Classmate to Classmate. Classmate to Teacher. School seems exceptionally doki-doki on Valentine's Day, don't you think? But it is just chocolate. I don't really get it.

Please, please, please accept this! I, I, I...I have made this myself! For you! It is nothing too fancy, but please! I hope you like! Ano...hmm, Happy Valentine's Day! Yeah, it is chocolate! Heart-shaped chocolate! I chose the box and ribbon myself! I shall get going then! Yeah, chocolate is good!

Hmm, how shall I confess...I mean, convey my feelings? Ah, I know! I shall practise with the mirror. Hmm, do you like chocolate? Yeah, I love it myself. Oh, may I eat some? Thank you! Wait, why am I eating chocolate meant for somebody else? But this is so tempting! Hmm, I hope you don't mind, but I have actually stolen some chocolate from here. Don't you know that half-bitten chocolate is trending now? Hey, where are you going? Oh well, that leaves everything else to me! Wait, wait, that is so wrong!

Ah, everything has fallen out! Stop flirting with that cat, and pick up the stuff! There is still so much to prepare for Valentine's Day! Jeez, why are we even thinking of so many people to give chocolate to? This is just insane! Hey, can you stop playing with that cat now? We really need to hurry! Scoop all these stuff up for goodness sake, before that cat starts eating everything!

Valentine's Day. I don't know what the big deal is, but isn't it just another day anyway?

Eccentrically Yours.

GunPla Expo 2016: Johor Bahru edition!

Monday, February 6, 2017 / No Comments
Hi everyone! It's Nana だよ~ How's it going? ^_^

You're probably looking at my title and wondering, 2016? Well, it is true that this post has been delayed quite a bit... However, I really love the pictures I took and am so excited to finally share them with all of you! O(≧▽≦)O

Before that however, I was at Bugis+ today and saw an event by Hobby Art Gallery going on, with some Gundam on display, a few small booths (including one with pretty cool drawings) and a snaking queue to preorder(?) Gundam! Well I'm not too sure what the queue is for, but queues in Singapore usually means good things!

One of my favourite shots!
Anyway!! Without further ado, please, feast your eyes on the display below~! (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧

Wouldn't want to go up against him in a battle.

Another favourite of mine!

I love Sengoku era-inspired Gundams!

Futuristic and definitely super cool.

Dynamic poses are the most beautiful!

I hope you enjoyed the photos! While I may not be knowledgeable about Gundam, I definitely enjoy looking at them and working their best angles with my phone ⁽⁽٩(๑˃̶͈̀ ᗨ ˂̶͈́)۶⁾⁾

To end things off, here's a gorgeous Perfect Grade!

Well, see you all soon~ I've been busy but I hope I'll be able to write more posts this year~
